Gala Night - 100 years of the Mill

The third mill the Britannia Mines stands today as a National Historic Site. It completed 100 years old in the spring of 2023 and it is the last gravity fed mill in the country. From it’s machines, a quarter of the copper in the whole world was processed during the peak of the mine and it operated for half a century when it finally became silent once the mine had to shut down for economical reasons.

It stood as a place of reference and innovation, and to celebrate it’s anniversary, a new exhibit was launched at the Britannia Mine Museum in the Summer of 2023. Followed by that, a Gala Night was hosted for staff, board members, and invitees from the mining industry. This special event announced the new exhibition, but also introduced the guests to the upcoming project of the Behind the Scenes Mill Tour.
